Inspired by their dynamic double reed wizardry, I wrote a series of short character pieces for Glenda Bates and Kendra Hawley. Appropriately, given the music's somewhat whimsical nature, the title is a pun: it refers not only to the presence of two double reed players but also to a laudable accomplishment one can achieve on the basketball court. Since these two musicians play new (and old) music with the passion and physicality of athletes, I felt the metaphor was apt.
